PM Modi Announces ₹10 Cr Investment, 1 Lakh Jobs at Maharashtra’s PM MITRA Park

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his address at the National PM Vishwakarma Programme in Maharashtra, said that PM MITRA Parks are developing fast. The vision is described as all-inclusive, from “Farm to Fibre, Fibre to Fabric, Fabric to Fashion, and Fashion to Foreign”. It tries to ensure quality production of fabric, proper conversion into fashion products, and marketing of those products globally. Thus, it reduces losses to farmers, brings better prices for their crops, and adds value to them.

This PM MITRA Park could attract investments of ₹8-10 crores, an instance that would create over 1 lakh job opportunities for the youth of Maharashtra, he stated. And it will actually benefit other industries too as this will give rise to new supply chains and prop up incomes across the board. He added that infrastructure improvements to support this industrial growth are well on their way, with new highways, expressways, ports, and air connectivity.

Modi also presented several government schemes that the Central and state governments of Maharashtra have initiated to support farmers. The Central government has promised ₹6,000 annually for each farmer under the PM Kisan Nidhi scheme, while the state government of Maharashtra promises to add another ₹6,000, making it ₹12,000 a year to each farmer. A crop insurance at ₹1 only has been assured to safeguard the losses of our farmers due to crop damages.

Crop insurance for just ₹1 has also been promised to cover the losses incurred by farmers due to crop failure.

He appreciated the efforts of Mr Eknath Shinde, Chief Minister of Maharashtra state who decided to wave off the electricity bills of the farmers thereby nullifying the electricity cost for our farmers.

Mr Modi identified the previous setbacks in agricultural reform by earlier governments; and announced the course of farmer’s lives has already started. He further announced that export tax on onions has been reduced from a very high rate of 40% to 20%. These initiatives are instituted for enhancing the income of farmers and as a source of lifeblood for agriculture development in Maharashtra.
