Bharatiya Janata Party leader Devendra Fadnavis visited Siddhivinayak temple in Mumbai to seek the blessings of Lord Ganesh. He attended the aarti and performed the puja before heading for the swearing-in ceremony in Mumbai.
BJP legislature party leader Devendra Fadnavis has sworn-in as the new Chief Minister of Maharashtra at a grand ceremony to be attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and several other dignitaries.
Mr. Fadnavis, who occupied the CM’s post for the third time, along with two Deputy Chief Ministers tool the oath of office, BJP leader Sudhir Mungantiwar told reporters, stating that other Cabinet members will subsequently take an oath of office.
“Ajit Pawar, the leader of the Nationalist Congress Party, and Eknath Shinde, the leader of the Shiv Sena, are anticipated to take the oath of office as deputy chief ministers,” sources said.
Over 4,000 police officers have been dispatched to provide security for the swearing-in ceremony.
In addition, an independent team comprising 30 police officers and 250 police enforcers will be entrusted to traffic regulation, along with one Additional Commissioner of Police and three Deputy Commissioners of Police from the Mumbai Police.
Azad Maidan in South Mumbai served as the venue for the ceremony. In addition to chief ministers of states headed by the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance, a number of Union ministers attended.
Eknath Shinde, the departing chief minister of Maharashtra, emphasized the importance of cooperation and group decision-making while expressing his unwavering support for Chief Minister-designate Devendra Fadnavis.
