Juniper Green Energy revealed on Tuesday that it has signed an agreement with Tata Power to develop an 85 megawatt hybrid power facility in Maharashtra. “The project is the first wind-solar energy project for the company. It will utilize both wind and solar resources by combining 51 MW of wind energy and 34 MW of solar power,” Juniper Green Energy officials said in a statement. The power purchase agreement (PPA) with Tata Power is for the development of an 85 MW hybrid power project in Maharashtra.
It is estimated that the project will generate 215 million units (MUs) of power annually and help electrify about 42,753 dwellings. As an independent supplier of renewable energy, Juniper Green Energy oversees wind, solar, and hybrid power facilities.
The business has stated that its first wind power project will be commercialized in April 2024, adding 70 MW to Gujarat’s potential for renewable energy. The 105 MW Jalkot solar power facility in Maharashtra was scheduled to begin operations in the same month.
Apart from contributing to Gujarat’s endeavors to increase its usage of renewable energy sources, the project is expected to generate around 230 MUs (million units) of power annually, thereby reducing carbon emissions by an estimated 2,13,055 tons.
The company, which is part of the AT Group, has an asset portfolio worth over USD 2.5 billion, which includes worldwide holdings in hotels, renewable energy, and residential and commercial real estate.
